As one of the three passive components, inductance occupies an important position in the industry of electronic components. Chip resistors and capacitors have been rapidly developed and applied. Comparing with them, inductors are more difficult and slow to develop due to their complex structure and limitations of traditional winding process.
 
Although inductors are ancillary, they still need to select suitable products according to their different application lines. At present, the application circuits of inductors are mainly divided into two categories, one is signal application, such as energy storage and instantaneous current suppression, the other is noise suppression, such as EMI suppression and noise filtering. The product characteristics of inductors are mainly affected by iron core materials. The iron core is located in the center of the coil, which is divided into ceramic and ferrite materials. Ceramic cores are used for signal purposes, such as ceramic winding inductors and layered ceramic inductors; ferrite cores are used to suppress EMI, such as Power Choke, Ferrite Bead and Ferrite Core.
 
With the rapid development of global electronic products and the transfer of assembly industry to China, the domestic and international market of inductor devices is increasing day by day. These developments have brought huge market space for inductor devices. According to the coil forming method, chip inductors can be divided into winding type and laminated type. On the one hand, the winding inductor can control the current withstanding by the coil thickness, on the other hand, it can also control the number of coils to adjust the inductance value. The product design is more flexible, and the outer layer is generally sealed with resin. The process has strong inheritance, but the volume of miniaturization is limited. Laminated chip inductors are printed alternately with ferrite slurry and conductor slurry, laminated, sintered and formed closed magnetic circuit. It adopts advanced thick film multi-layer printing technology and laminated production technology to realize super-small surface mounting. This technology is similar to MLCC capacitor. In the future, product standards will mature and competition will become more intense. Laminated chip inductors can be divided into high frequency type, high Q value type, high loss type and low noise type. At present, 1005 type products with 1000_impedance and high current laminated chip inductors with rated current of 6A have been developed and put on the market. Laminated chip inductor is a key product in inductance field. Compared with wound chip inductor, it has many advantages: small size, small circuit; closed magnetic circuit, good anti-EMI performance, and conducive to high-density assembly of components; integrated structure, high reliability; heat resistance, good solderability, regular shape, suitable for automatic surface mounting production. At present, great progress has been made in this kind of products, and its application market has been continuously expanded by improving the performance of magnetic materials, improving the internal magnetic circuit structure and accelerating the miniaturization of devices. Especially for mobile communication terminals such as portable phones, PHS and other high-frequency micro-H inductors, as well as noise suppressors mainly for high-speed digital signal processing equipment such as personal computers, new products of laminated chip type have been introduced abroad, reaching the minimal chip size in high-density mounting, which meets the needs of SMT.
 
With the rapid development of global electronic products and the emergence of new products, as well as the transfer of assembly industry to China, the market demand of chip inductors at home and abroad is increasing day by day. As far as China is concerned, the market of chip inductors is very promising, and the inductor consumption in various audio-visual household appliances is the largest. At present, the total demand of chip inductors in the world is more than 300 billion, about 30 billion yuan. China's export situation is good. Among them, AV is the most demanded area, accounting for about 40%; mobile communication is about 30%; and OA equipment is about 15%. Japan ranks first in the world in the development and production of chip inductors. In the 1980s, many automatic production lines have been established successively. Its production output accounts for about 70% of the world's total and about 210 billion. Taiwan's production is second only to Japan's, accounting for about 13% of the world's total, about 39 billion, leaving China and South Korea and other countries. The relocation of the world's electronic production base to the mainland, especially the rapid growth of the mobile phone and computer market, will greatly increase the consumption of domestic laminated chip inductors.
